2005 Season Wrap Up

2005 was a landmark year for Peter Minnig. This was the first year that Peter competed in the Yamaha Junior SuperCan class. In previous years, Peter had raced in the Briggs Junior Stock and Junior Restricted class, but this year he expanded into the 2-cycle world. Peter definitely loved the speed of the 2-cycle Yamaha, built by Comet Kart Sales, and is looking forward to competing in more 2-cycle classes next year.

In 2005 Peter began to compete nationally in the Yamaha Junior SuperCan class as part of the George Kugler Manufacturer's Cup Series presented by Bridgestone. The first of these, at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania, in April, was snowed out and Peter's class did not compete. The second of these races was held at the South Bend Raceway Park, located in South Bend, Indiana. In the final, Peter started well, passing five karts on the first lap. Unfortunately, contact with another kart ended his race.

Peter had greater success in the Maryland Sprint Divisional Series. This championship consists of six races which are run at Sandy Hook Speedway and Nicholson Speedway. Peter finished the season undefeated, with 1045 points and won the 2005 Maryland Sprint Divisional Championship.

Peter also competed in other events ranging from the 2005 J&J/Vega Championship Series, to some local club races at Monrovia Raceway where he had great success.

Peter is anxiously looking forward to competing in the senior classes next year. He will race in the Yamaha Senior Sportsman Lite and Heavy classes as well as the Briggs Senior Sportsman Medium and Heavy classes. A summary of Peter's 2005 Season follows.
