2005 A Great Year for Peter

2005 was a landmark year for Peter Minnig. This was the first year that Peter competed in the Yamaha Junior SuperCan class.

In previous years, Peter had raced in the Briggs Junior Stock and Junior Restricted class. But this year he expanded into the 2-cycle world.

Peter definitely loved the speed of the 2-cycle Yamaha, built by Comet Kart Sales, and is looking forward to competing in more 2-cycle classes next year.

Peter Minnig was born on October 1, 1990, in Washington, DC. He has lived in the same house outside of Washington, in Falls Church, VA, his entire life. Even as a baby, Peter loved to watch Formula One races with his father.

Peter's first experience in a kart occurred at the XPLEX Las Vegas Motorsport Raceplex when he took a driving school instructed by Matt Jaskol, current ASA Speed Trucks Series points leader. Peter so greatly enjoyed this experience he decided he would like to continue with karting.

Peter's first race was on October 20, 2002. His first win came in his fifth start in the Briggs Junior Restricted Class at Monrovia Raceway on July 6, 2003. During this second season, Peter scored five more wins. Peter continued to improve in his third season racing with eight wins, and a top five at the prestigious Milford Street Race in Delaware.

During 2005, Peter was the Maryland Sprint Divisional Champion in Yamaha Junior SuperCan with six wins. His career total feature wins stands at twenty-four.

Peter hopes to continue racing karts and eventually move up into racing cars.

In 2006, Peter will start competing in the WKA Senior Division at the National and Divisional level.
