Company: Xola Consulting – Travel off the Radar (www.travelofftheradar.com)

Challenge: In 2006, Xola launched an adventure travel email newsletter called Off the Radar. The goal was to create a publication that connects adventure travelers with unique tour operators around the world.  As part of this effort, a companion web site, Travelofftheradar.com was built to archive past issues. In the fall of 2008, Xola and PowerWebResults met to discuss how to grow the subscription base of Off the Radar and traffic to the companion website.

Tool: Web development, CMS, Email Marketing

Collaboration: PowerWebResults worked with Xola’s travel experts and designers to develop a new site using WordPress, a CMS. The new site is informative and visually stunning. Xola staff members are able to add and update easily content themselves.

Results: Subscriptions to the newsletter grew by over 30 % over the past year.

Xola publishes new material to the website weekly. Content and traffic have improved significantly since the WordPress implementation. Over the past 3 months, Travelofftheradar.com has seen:

  • Site traffic grow by 149%
  • Average time on site increase 30%
  • Google traffic grow by 119%
  • Yahoo traffic grow by 100%.
